Comments: Achillea millefolium
'Tricolor' or Yarrow Tricolor is a lovely perennial groundcover with a
rapid growth rate. It has fine soft, ferny green foliage. In Summer,
showy bright yellow blossoms with red edges appear. Butterflies are
magnetized by the nectar-rich blossoms. Florists are delighted with the
lovely freshly cut flowers or used dried flowers in floral
arrangements. Achillea millefolium is easily propagated from rootball
divisions. It performs best in well-drained, poor acidic soil in a
sunny location. Yarrow Tricolor is drought tolerant. It is a fast
grower and soon forms a lovely patch. Rabbits and deers would not go
near this plant. Cut Achillea millefolium 'Tricolor' plants by at least
half after flowering for a second shower of blossoms later in the
season. Tricolor Yarrow makes exquisite groundcovers. Use them along
walkways or grow them in hanging baskets for a delightful display. Achillea millefolium looks
dazzling as xeriscaping plants.
