Staunchweed or Thousandleaf Yarrow is a herbaceous deciduous hybrid perennial with a
vigorous spreading, upright growth rate. It has lovely soft pinnately dissected green foliage. In late
Spring or early Summer, Achillea millefolium 'Cerise Queen' produces
clusters of exquisite bright pink, flat, wide blossoms, followed
later by seeds. Butterflies and bees are magnetized by the nectar-rich
blossoms while birds enjoy feasting on the seeds. Florists are delighted with the lovely freshly cut flowers for bouquets or in dried floral arrangements. Milfoil 'Cerise Queen' is easily propagated from rootball divisions taken in Spring. Sanguinary 'Cerise Queen' thrives best in
well-drained, mildly acidic, neutral or mildly alkaline, sandy, clayey soil in a sunny
environment. Provide support for floppiness. Deers and rabbits tend to avoid Achillea millefolium
'Cerise Queen'. It is low maintenance and tolerates drought once
established. It attracts wildlife that prey on aphids and other insects. Mass plant Soldier's Woundwort 'Cerise Queen' in the
rock garden or as ground covers as its lovely foliage forms a nicely matted carpet. Fernleaf Yarrow 'Cerise Queen' can also be container cultivated. Use Staunchweed 'Cerise Queen' on slopes. It is ideal for
xeriscaping. Thousandleaf Yarrow 'Cerise Queen' is a
very showy.
Named after Achilles, Achillea millefolium is native to western Asia and Europe. It has medicinal properties and have been traditionally used for the treatment of various ailments including hypertension, fevers, athritis and external wounds and haemorrhoids and female problems. Prolonged use could cause skin sensitivity to sunlight.
