Comments:  Aegopodium podagraria 'Variegatum' or Bishop's Weed or Goutweed or Ground Elder or Herb Gerald or Snow-in-the-Mountain is a low growing perennial with a fast spreading, dense, rhizomatous growth habit.  It is a non-native of USA.  In late Spring or early Summer, Bhishop's Weed produces long stalks of terminal white flowerheads appear above basal leaves, followed later by seeds.  Bees, beetles and small flies help pollinate the flowers.  Aegopodium podagraria has showy variegated foliage of cream and green.  It is easily propagated from sees or rootball divisions.  Goutweed thrives best in well-drained, moist, acidic or alkaline soil in a partly shaded environment.  It is carefree and is a self-seeder.  Herb Gerald is very eye-catching grown as a groundcover under taller shrubs or trees.  It can quickly cover an vast area with its rhizomatous roots, forming an attractive carpet.  Ground Elder is much sought after by gardeners for its ornamental value.  It can be grown in a hanging basket or container to control its spread.  Snow-in-the-Mountain stops foot traffic.  It is an attention getter.
