Comments: Agastache rupestris or Licorice Mint or Sunset Hyssop is a fabulous perennial with an upright, airy, clumping growth habit. It is a native to southwestern USA. In mid-Summer, Agastache rupestris constantly bear small, fragrant coral, tubular flowers, followed later by seeds. Hummingbirds, especially Ruby Throat hummingbirds, butterflies and bees are magnetized by the nectar-rich blossoms of Licorice Mint. The freshly cut flowers makes great floral arrangements. It has herbaceous silvery-gray, rootbeer-scented thin foliage. Sunset Hyssop is easily propagated from seeds. It thrives best in well-drained, mildly acidic, alkaline or neutral soil in a sunny location. Agastache rupesris tolerates drought and is low maintenance. It self sows readily. Deers would not go near it. Mass plant Licorice Mint as xeriscaping plants for a terrific display in the dry landscape or in the front of perennial border. It can also be container cultivated. Cut old stems back in Spring after new growth appears. The leaves emit rootbeer scent when brushed which is very welcoming, and the showy sunset-colored flowers makes Sunset Hyssop a wonderful addition to Jenny's Garden.
