Comments: Alocasia amazonica 'Polly' or African Mask or Amazon Elephant's Ear or Jewel Alocasia or Alocasia Alligator is a tender tropical perennial with a clumping growth habit. It is an exotic hybrid and is a member of the aroid family. In mid-Summer Alocasia amazonica 'Polly' produces cream spathes, some times followed by red berries. It has showy dark green, foot-long, arrow-shaped, smooth, glossy foliage with distinct cream veins. African Mask is easily propagated from offsets or bulb divisions. It performs best in well-drained, moist soil in a shady environment. Amazon Elephant Ear loves humidity and enjoys being misted on hot Summer days or sit pot in tray of wet pebbles. Jewel Alocasia is low maintenance. It forms pups at the base of plant and soon forms a nice clump. Provide good air circulation. Mass plant Alocasia Alligator in the moist garden for a terrific tropical flair. It can also be container cultivated as a houseplant. Place potted plant in bright indirect light when indoors. Alocasia amazonica 'Polly' is popularly cultivated by many hobbyists for its awesome foliage. It is a fabulous show stopper and is a great conversational piece.
