Comments:Aloysia virgata or Incense Bush or Sweet Almond Bush is a subtropical or tropical shrub with an upright, fast growing habit. It is a native of Argentina. In mid-Spring, Aloysia virgata produces prolific long spires of very fragrant white blossoms. Hummingbirds, bees and butterflies are magnetized by the nectar-rich flowers. Incense Bush is easily propagated from stem cuttings. It thrives best in well-drained, acidic or mildly alkaline soil in a sunny environment. Sweet Almond Bush is low maintenance and tolerates drought when established. It is long blooming and its delightful scent permeates the entire garden. Prune for desired shape and size and to promote abundant blooms. Incense Bush can also be container cultivated but the height will be about 4 feet tall. The year-round intense almond scent makes Aloysia virgata a highly desirable shrub for the landscape.
