Comments:  Amsonia hubrichtii  or Hubricht's Blue Star or Narrow Leaf Blue Star or Arkansas Amsonia or Arkansas Bluebell or Amsonia Hubrechtii is a  perennial with a dense, mounding growth habit.  It is a southern native, found growing abundantly in the states of Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.  In early Spring till early Summer, Amsonia hubrichtii interesting soft blue clusters of star-shaped flowers appear atop soft, thin, graceful, bottlebrush-like green leaves.  This is followed later by seeds in the Fall.   Hubricht's Blue Star is easily propagated from rootball divisions, softwood cuttings or from seeds.  It thrives best in well-drained soil in a sunny to part shade location. It is low maintenance and carefree.  After flowering, trim Arkansas Amsonia to about 6" for a fuller growth.  Narrow Leaf Blue Star make an excellent backdrop for low-growing perennials.  It has a shrub-like apprearance when mature.  Amsonia hubrechtii is a stunner in the Fall when its foliage turns a superb golden color.  This irristible, pest-free perennial is a welcoming addition to Jenny's Garden.
