Lily with a perennial plant with a medium, clumping growth habit. It is of Asian origin and it belongs to the iris family. In mid-Summer, Belamcanda chinensis 'Freckle Face' produces exotic red-orange blossoms, followed later by seedpods. The flowers held on tall stems have yellow petals with red speckles and look ideal in freshly cut or dried flower arrangements. Butterflies and bees are magnetized by its nectar-rich blossoms. Blackberry Lily has pale green smooth, sword-shaped flat foliage. Candy Lily is easily propagated from seeds. It thrives best in well-drained, sandy, clayey, acidic, neutral or alkaline soil in a sunny environment. It is low maintenance and forms nice clumps. Divide every few years to prevent overcrowding. Candy Lily tolerates drought conditions and is ideal for xeriscaping. Mass plant as in borders or as edging plants for a dramatic visual effect. Leopard Lily can also be container cultivated for the sunny deck or patio. Belamcanda chinensis 'Freckle Face' adds sparkle to the Summer garden. When the seedpods ripen, they split open revealing black glossy seeds providing Fall interest. Blackberry Lily is a terrific show stopper.
