Comments:  Buddleja davidii 'Bicolor' or Rainbow Butterfly Bush or Summer Lilac is a cold hardy hybrid deciduous shrub with a rapid growth habit.  From mid-Spring till Fall, it produces lustrous and long blooming fragrant, large flowerheads of bicolor florets among lovely silvery-green foliage.  Butterflies, hummingbirds and bees are magnetized by its nectar-rich blossoms while birds enjoy feasting on the seeds.    Florists are delighted with the colorful cut flowers.  Buddleja davidii 'Bicolor' is easily propagated from stem cuttings.  It performs best in well-drained, mildly acidic, neutral or mildly alkaline soil in a sunny environment.  Rainbow Butterfly Bush is low maintenance.  It tolerates drought conditions, making it an excellent candidate for xeriscaping.  Mass plant Summer Lilac for a lovely hedge.  It looks very appealing and colorful as a specimen or companion plant.  Use Buddleja davidii 'Bicolor' as border plants.  This dazzling heat tolerant and carefree shrub adds fragrance and colors the dry, sunny  landscape.
