an exquisite tropical foliage plant with a low, clumping growth habit.
It is a showy tropical hybrid. Calathes louisiae 'Electric Shock has glossy,
variegated, deep green foliage with cream, somewhat ruffled with
irregular flame-like splashes in the leaf center. The foliage
variegation varies with different light exposure. Calathea louisiae
'Electric Shock' is easily propagated from rootball divisions and
thrives best in well-drained, moist soil in a partly shady to shady
environment. It loves humidity and on hot Summer days, it enjoys being
misted. Sit 'Electric Shock' Calathea in tray of water on top of
gravels. It is an excellent candidate for the shade garden. Mass plant
CaIathea louisiae 'Electric Shock' as lovely ground covers under tall
trees or in the shade garden or in a woodland setting. It looks
exquisite in hanging baskets. 'Electric Shock' Calathea can also be
container cultivated for colder areas and brought indoors for the Winter
for a tropical atmosphere. It makes an ideal foliage plant for the
home or office. Calathea 'Electric shock' is a terrific showstopper
and easily strikes up a conversation.
