Comments:  Coreopsis tinctoria or Calliopsis or Golden Tickseeds or Plain Coreopsis or Coreopsis cardaminefolia or Coreopsis tinctoria imminuta or Coreopsis stenophylla is an annual, native to the American Great Plains.  In mid-Spring, Coreopsis tinctoria produces abundant bright yellow blossoms, followed later by seeds. Butterflies and bees are magnetized by its nectar-rich blossoms of Coreopsis tinctoria imminuta while birds enjoy feasting on the seeds.  Golden Tickseed is easily propagated from seeds.  Coreopsis stenophylla performs best in well-drained, moist soil in a sunny to part shade environment.  Calliopsis self sows readily.  Remove spent flowers to promote more blossoms.  Grow Coreopsis stenophylla close to each other with other perennials so they can support each other due to their spindly growth. It  is low maintenance.  Mass plant Golden Tickseed in borders or a cheery display.  Use them in mixed planting or in a wildflower garden for an eyecatching view.  In its natural habitat, Coreopsis tinctoria can be commonly found growing in open fields and along roadsides.
