Comments: Eunonymus japonicus 'Aureo-marginatus' or Japanese euonymus or Variegated Japanese Spindletree is an evergreen perennial shrub with an upright, medium growth habit. It is a native of eastern Asia. Euonymus japonicus 'Aureo-marginatus rarely blooms; when it does, small, white blossoms will appear in late Spring. It has gorgeous broad, leathery, green and yellow variegated leaves, providing a year round interest in the xeriscaping landscape. Japanese euonymus is especially a delightful sight in the dead of Winter boldly displaying its ever glowy appearance, undisturbed by the snow. Variegated Japanese Spindletree is easily propagated from woody stem cuttings. It performs best in poor, clayey, neutral soil in a sunny location. It is susceptible to mildew if grown in shade. Euonymus japonicus 'Aureo-marginatus' tolerates drought conditions and is low maintainance. Mass plant for a splendid looking hedge. It is ideal for the rock garden or as an accent plant. Japanese euonymus makes great foundation plants. It is indeed a fabulous showy foliage shrub for the smaller garden.
