Comments:  Fargesia rufra 'Green Panda' or Hardy Bamboo is a cold hardy ornamental perennial with a compact, clumping growth habit.  It is a native of China. Fargesia rufra 'Green Panda' is easily propagated from clump divisions.  It performs best in a sunny to part shade or part to full shade location.  Hardy Bamboo grows well in well-drained, organic-rich soil.  It is low maintainence and is easy to grow.  Mass plant for a fabulous privacy screen or attractive fencing.   Fargesia rufra 'Green Panda' makes a superb specimen plant in the shade garden.  It works great as a windbreak.  Hardy Bamboo can be container cultivated for indoors in the home or office.  It can tolerate trimmimg to desired height if necessary.  The exquisite foliage of Fargesia rubra 'Green Panda' borne on lovely red stems can easily capture anyone's heart.  It is a superb choice for smaller gardens.  It is interesting to note that the Giant Panda bears love feasting on Hardy Bamboos.
