Comments: Fritillaria persica or Persian Fritillary is a hardy bulbous plant with a clumping growth habit. It is a native of the Middle East. In mid-Spring, Fritillaria persica produces 3' tall stalk of exquisite blooms which later forms seeds. It has herbaceous blue-green, lance-shaped foliage. Persian Fritillary is is covered by a film of white powder making it look dreamy. It is easily propagated from offset or bulb divisions or seeds which can be winter-sown in coldframe. It thrives best in well-drained, sandy, loamy, mildly acidic soil in a sunny or part shade location. Fritillaria persica is an easy and low maintenance. To prevent root rot, allow plant to dry between waterings. Mass plant Persian Fritillary for a terrific visual effect in the rock garden or a raised bed at back of border. Fritillaria persica is a terrific show stopper.
