or Benifica or Giant Amaryllis Hippeastrum Black Pearl is an exotic bulbous plant with a fast growth habit. From November to January, it produces 2 stems per plant. Each stem bears upright spikes of 4 to 6 absolutely gorgeous giant-size, deep velvety maroon blossoms with a darker center. Florists are delighted with the long lasting cut flowers. Galaxy Amaryllis 'Black Pearl' is easily propagated from bulb divisions. It thrives best in well-drained soil, in a part shade location. It is not cold hardy and is best grown indoors. Make sure 1/3 of bulb is above the soil. Benifica is easy to grow and does not demand much attention. Mass plant for a terrific display in the shade garden. Giant Amaryllis Hippeastrum Black Pearl can also be container cultivated as an indoor plant for the home or office. Plant at least 2 or 3 bulbs in each pot for a spectacular display. Make sure pot is 2" larger than diameter of bulb. Galaxy Amaryllis Black Pearl makes a superb gift for the season or use it as a centerpiece for the home. To have the blooms ready for the special occasion, plant bulbs at least 5 weeks prior.
