Comments:
Persicaria
microcephala 'Red Dragon' or Fleece Flower or Knotweed or Tovara
is a colorful perennial groundcover with a rapid growth habit. In
late Spring or early Summer, small, pink, red and white blossoms appear
in clusters among interesting variegated foliage. Butterflies are
attracted to its nectar-rich flowers and florists are delighted with its
long-lasting cut flowers.
Tovara
leaves are
of gorgeous bronze and plum shades, turning greener in Summer. Persicaria
microcephala 'Red Dragon' is easily propagated from stem cuttings
and performs best in well-drained, mildly acidic soil in a sunny to part
shade location.
Do not overwater.
Rabbits and deers would not go near them. Fleece Flower
looks excellent in the shade
garden or mass plant for added colors as groundcovers under taller trees.
It blends well when used in mixed container planting.
Knotweed looks dramatic as
edging plants; mass plant them along the driveway or walkways.
This heritage perennial
is easy to grow and not
demanding. The eye-catching leaves of
Tovara makes it an ideal foliage
plant for the border. It is grown as an annual in colder areas or
bring plant indoors for the Winter.
