Saxifraga
veitchjiana is a vivaparous perennial groundcover with a
trailing growth habit. It is a native of Europe and Eastern Asia.
In mid-Spring, Saxifraga stolonifera
produces small showy white blossoms with bright yellow ovary and
distinct pointed petals.
Aaron's Beard
has rounded
blue-green, variegated, velvety foliage
with gray veins.
Creeping
Rockfoil is easily propagated from runners, rhizome or rootball
divisions. Creeping
Saxifrage
thrives best in well-drained,
moist, alkaline soil in part to full shade, ideally 60 degrees
Fahrenheit days and 40 degrees nights.
Mother of Thousands is evergreen; it
produces many plantlets on
runners around the mother plant in humid conditions. Allow soil to
dry between waterings.
Roving Sailor
spreads via runners and the plantlets take root when it touches the
ground. Use
Strawberry Begonia as
groundcovers or in hanging baskets allowing the runners to cascade
freely down the sides forming eye-catching rosettes.
Strawberry Geranium
can be container cultivated and brought indoors, placing it near a
brightly lit window.
Strawberry Saxifrage
makes an excellent foliage plant in the absence of its blossoms.
Use them in window
boxes for added colors.
Saxifraga sarmentosa looks exquisite in the shade garden.
It is carefree and low maintenance. Mulch
Saxifraga stolonifera f.
cuscutiformis in Winter.
