Tradescantia
sillamontana or Cobweb Spiderwort or Hairy Wandering Jew or
White Gossamer
Plant or
White Velvet
is a tropical perennial. All year round, it produces a lovely pink
terminal flower that sits right on top of the leaves. The flowers
look very contrasting with the grayish white velvety leaves that look
like having cobweb on them.
Tradescantia
sillamontana is easily propagated from seeds, or cuttings
or rootball divisions done in Spring; it thrives
on neglect in the
sun to part shade environment.
Planted en masse Hairy Wandering Jew make really eye-catching
groundcovers. In the absence of its lobely blooms,
White Gossamer
Plant makes
an exquisite foliage plant. Cobweb Spiderwort is carefree and low
maintenance. White Velvet
looks appealing in hanging baskets or in a container for the house or
patio. I fertilize my Tradescantia
sillamontana with half strength liquid fertilizer once a year.
Bring plant indoor for the Winter.
Cobweb Spiderwort
is a beauty to have in Jenny's Garden.
