Comments:
Trifolium repens 'Salsa Dancer' or
Ladino Clover
or White
Clover or
White Dutch Clover is a
breathtaking perennial groundcover with a vigorous, trailing growth
habit. In
late Winter or early Spring, it produces sweetly scented white blossoms
sticking above attractive variegated foliage, green with red and white
tones in the center; this is followed later by seeds.
Trifolium repens 'Salsa Dancer' is easily propagated from seeds
or from rootball divisions. It performs ideally in loamy, clayey,
acidic or neutral soil in a sunny or part shade environment. Ladino Clover
is hardy to -25 degrees
Fahrenheit. It is low maintenance and is a beneficial plant for
other plants growing around them as it is a nitrogen fixer. Mass
plant them as groundcovers under taller trees or shrubs for a delightful
view. Use them in beds or borders or plant some in hanging baskets
or in a mixed container planting for an eye-catching effect.
White Dutch Clover
an appropriate plant to have
for St Patrick's Day. Allow
Trifolium repens 'Salsa Dancer'
to freely trail along the
ground for a pleasing carpet display.
Legend has it that if you are able to grow a four-leaved clover, this
means you possess overall good luck in health, riches, protection and
prosperity and also possess the ability to see the fairy and other
supernatural beings as this plant attracts them.
Interestingly, Trifolium is Shamrock of Ireland.
