Comments: Hedera helix or Common Ivy or English Ivy is an attractive climber with a dense, rapid growth rate. It is a native of England, Ireland, Mediterranean and Northern Europe, In mid-Winter English Ivy produces chartreuse blossoms, followed later by round berries. The birds especially robins and mockingbirds enjoy feasting on the berries and helps to disperse the seeds. Hedera helix is easily propagated from cuttings or seeds and performs best in well-drained mildly acidic soil, neutral or mildly alkaline soil, in a sunny to part shade environment. It tolerates drought conditions and is low maintenance. Mass plant Common Ivy for a lovely groundcover or allow it to climb up a woody tree. Many English cottages have English Ivy growing on their walls. Grow English Ivy in hanging baskets to brighten up the porch or patio. It great indoor plants for the home or office or use it in container mixed planting. Hedera helix is an easy plant to grow.
