Comments: Hemerocallis 'Highland Lord' or Daylily 'Highland Lord' is an award winning perennial with a rapid clumping growth habit. It is a late mid-season hybrid rebloomer by hybridizer Monson (1983). In mid-July Hemerocallis 'Highland Lord' produces 22" long scape of eye-catching wine red self double-petaled, non-fragrant, velvety ruffled blossoms, exquisitely trimmed in gold picotee along its edges. Daylily 'Highland Lord' has semi-evergreen, sword-like, basal foliage. It is easily propagated from rootball divisions. Hemerocallis 'Highland Lord' thrives best in well-drained, mildly acidic, neutral or mildly alkaline soil, in a sunny to part shade location. Daylily 'Highland Lord' naturalizes easily. Mass plant this tetraploid beauty in borders for a striking display in the Summer landscape. Hemerocallis 'Highland Lord' can also be container cultivated. Deers would not go near this yellow-throated deer resistant showstopper.
Interestingly, Daylily 'Highland Lord' is noted for Honorable Mention (1985) and Ida Mundson Award (1991).
