Comments: Hibiscus syriacus 'Blue Chiffon' or Rose of Sharon or Shrub Althea or Hibiscus syriacus 'Notwoodthree' is a hardy flowering shrub with an upright, rounded growth habit. it is a wonderful addition to the Chiffon series by Dr Roderick Woods of England. In late Summer or early Fall, Hibiscus syriacus 'Blue Chiffon' produces prolific violet-blue frilly, double flowers with red-veined streaks in the center. Butterflies and hummingbirds are magnetized by the nectar-rich blossoms. The freshly cut flowers make look ideal in floral arrangements. Rose of Sharon 'Blue Chiffon' has deciduous foliage. It is easily propagated from stem cuttings and thrives best in well-drained, acidic to neutral humus-rich soil in a sunny environment. It is low maintenance and tolerates drought when established. Shrub Althea 'Blue Chiffon' is deer resistant. Mass plant this ornamental late bloomer for an eye-catching hedge or showy privacy screen. Hibiscus syriacus 'Notwoodthree' makes an ideal specimen grown near the house or in a border. It is a terrific show stopper.
