Comments:  Hibiscus coccineus 'Alba' or White Texas Star Hibiscus is an eye-catching hardy perennial with an erect growth habit.  It is a native of southeastern United States.  In mid-Summer, Hibiscus coccineus 'Alba' produces wonderfully gorgeous, large, dinnerplate-sized, ornamental white star-shaped blossoms, followed later by seed pods.  Butterflies, hummingbirds and bees are magnetized by the nectar-rich blossoms of White Texas Star Hibiscus while birds have a fiesta at the seeds and helping to transport them.  Hibiscus coccineus 'Alba; is easily propagated from seeds or stem cuttings.  It thrives best in well-drained, moist, acidic, neutral or mildly alkaline soil in a sunny or part shade environment.  White Texas Star Hibiscus has interesting deep green foliage with five points, akin to the shape of the Lone S
tar of Texas, hence its common name, Texas Star.  It is low maintenance and enjoys having wet feet so plant them in wet areas of the landscape, in ponds and around water fountains. Mass plant Hibiscus coccineus 'Alba' for a spectacular display.  Frost will kill the top part of plant to the ground but will reemerge with a stronger growth next season.  Trim old stems in Spring for new growth to take place.  Foot traffic finds White Texas Star Hibiscus fascinating and are in awe of the dinner-size flowers.  It is a beauty!

USDA Zones:  6-11
