Comments:  Hippeastrum 'Zombie' or Amaryllis 'Zombie' is a subtropical or tropical bulbous plant with a clumping growth habit.  It is a showy hybrid.  Hippeastrum 'Zombie' produces showy long lasting double-petaled flowers with at least 3-4 flowers per stalk and 2 stalks appear on each bulb.  The fragrant flowers have striking colors,  light to deep salmon pink and white with deep pink veinings and apple- green throat.   Amaryllis 'Zombie' attracts butterflies and birds.  It is easily propagated from offsets or bulb division.  Hippeastrum 'Zombie' perfoms best in well-drained acidic to neutral soil in a sunny to part shade environment.  It is excellent for forcing indoors.  Plant bulb 1/3 above soil level.  Amaryllis 'Zombie' is low maintenance.  Deers would not go near it.  Mass plant Hippeastrum 'Zombie' in borders or as edging plants in the shade garden for a terrific show.  As indoor plants, place container near a window where it can get some sunlight.  Water it and watch it bloom in about 4 weeks.  You do not need to have green thumbs to grow Amaryllis bulbs.  They make wonderful gifts.
