Comments: Hippeastrum 'Zombie' or Amaryllis 'Zombie' is a subtropical or tropical bulbous plant with a clumping growth habit. It is a showy hybrid. Hippeastrum 'Zombie' produces showy long lasting double-petaled flowers with at least 3-4 flowers per stalk and 2 stalks appear on each bulb. The fragrant flowers have striking colors, light to deep salmon pink and white with deep pink veinings and apple- green throat. Amaryllis 'Zombie' attracts butterflies and birds. It is easily propagated from offsets or bulb division. Hippeastrum 'Zombie' perfoms best in well-drained acidic to neutral soil in a sunny to part shade environment. It is excellent for forcing indoors. Plant bulb 1/3 above soil level. Amaryllis 'Zombie' is low maintenance. Deers would not go near it. Mass plant Hippeastrum 'Zombie' in borders or as edging plants in the shade garden for a terrific show. As indoor plants, place container near a window where it can get some sunlight. Water it and watch it bloom in about 4 weeks. You do not need to have green thumbs to grow Amaryllis bulbs. They make wonderful gifts.
