Comments: Hosta 'Royal Standard' or Hosta plantagiana 'Royal Standard' is an attractive hardy perennial with a rapid, mounding growth habit. It is a showy hybrid. Hosta 'Royal Standard has lovely medium green, large, shiny, ovate, slightly rippled foliage. In mid-Summer, it produces 30" tall spikes of fragrant, attractive white, funnel-shaped blossoms, attracting hummingbirds and songbirds. Hosta plantagiana 'Royal Standard' is easily propagated from rhizome or clump divisions taken in late Summer. It thrives best in early morning sun and part shade in the afternoon, in well-drained, humus-rich, mildly acidic or neutral soil. It can also tolerate some drought. Mass plant Hosta 'Royal Standard' for an exquisite display as ground covers under taller trees or in the partly shade garden. It can also be container cultivated. Hosta plantagiana 'Royal Standard' looks excellent in mix planting or as a stand alone specimen. It multiplies fast and soon forms a nice clump. Divided every few years when overcrowded. Hosta 'Royal Standard' attracts attention.
