Comments:  Indigofera amblyantha or Chinese Indigo or Pink-flower Indigo is a herbaceous, deciduous shrub with an .  It is a native of China.  From late Spring till early Fall, Indigofera amblyantha produces showy erect racemes of pea-like, soft pink flowers appearing on new wood, above green smooth foliage.  This is followed later by dark purple long seedpods.  Chinee Indigo is easily propagated from seeds, directly sown onto ground in the Fall or from cuttings taken in Spring.  It is not picky about soil types but performs best in well-drained, moist soil in a sunny or part shade environment.  Pink-flower Indigo is low maintenance and tolerates drought condition when established. Prune to promote branching and abundant blooms.  In late Winter, cut down to base for a new growth next season.  In colder areas, Indigofera amblyantha usually dies to the ground level and reemerge in Spring with a stronger growth.  Its long, tri-seasonal flowering habit makes it a much desired shrub for the sunny or part shade landscape.  Chinese Indigo is a terrific showstopper.
