Ipomoea batatas 'Pink Frost' (Ornamental Sweet Potato, Tricolor Sweet Potato Vine)

Comments: Ipomoea batatas 'Pink Frost' or Ornamental Sweet Potato or Tricolor Sweet Potato Vine is a herbaceous tropical climbing plant with a fast, running growth habit. It is an extotic hybrid with a gorgeous foliage variegation of green and white with pink edges. In Summer Ipomoea batatas 'Pink Frost' produces lovely lavender blossoms followed later by seeds. Birds enjoy feasting on the seeds. Ornamental Sweet Potato 'Pink Frost' is easily propagated from tubers, layering or cuttings taken in Spring or Summer. It thrives best in well-drained, moist mounded soil in a sunny to part shade environment. Tricolor Sweet Potato Vine is low maintenance. Pinch tips of vine to maintain size. Mass plant Ipomoea batatas 'Pink Frost' for an excellent eye-catching ground cover for taller plants. It will trail and quickly fill up the area. Grow it in a hanging basket or container and allow the splendid foliage cascade down the sides for an appealing visual effect. Ornamental Sweet Potato 'Pink Frost' can also be grown in raised borders or beds. It looks awesome in mixed planting for added colors. Allow it to freely climb up a trellis for a wonderful display. Dig up tubers before frost, wrap with newspaper and keep in cool dry place for growing next season; the yams are edible but do not taste as good.
