Comments: Justicia spicigera or Firecracker Plant or Mexican Honeysuckle or Orange Plume Flower or Acobinia spicigera or Justicia ghiesbreghtiana or Justicia sidicaro is an evergreen subtropical plant. It is a native of Mexico and Central America. Year round, Justicia spicigera produces clusters of beautiful red-orange 1.5" long, tubular blossoms at end of branches. Flowers appear more abundant in Spring. Its evergreen foliage are green, narrow, veined and velvety. Hummingbirds and butterflies are magnetized by the nectar-rich blossoms of Firecracker Plant. Mexican Honeysuckle is easily propagated from seeds or softwood cuttings. It thrives best in well-drained soil in a sunny to part shade environment. Orange Plume Flower is hardy to 25 degrees Fahrenheit. It is an excellent plant for smaller garden. Mass plant Justicia ghiesbreghtiana in perennial beds or as foundation plants. Trim Aobinia spicigera for neatness and to promote growth. Justicia sidicaro can also be container cultivated for colder areas and brought indoors for the Winter.
