Comments:  Kalanchoe Pinnata or Air Plant or Cathedral Bells or Floppers or Goethe Plant or Lifeplant or Mexican Love Plant or Miracle Leaf or Mother-in-law Plant or Brophyllum pinnatum or Bryophyllum calcycinum or Cotyledon pinnata or Crassula pinnata or Kalanchoe pinnata calcidola is an evergreen succulent perennial plant with a fast spreading growth habit.  It is a native of South America.  Kalanchoe pinnata has hollow stems.   In late Spring, Air plant produces pale pink blossoms, attracting butterflies.  Cathedral Bells is the host plant for the caterpillars of Red Pierrot butterflies.  It is easily propagated from leaf or softwood stem cuttings or simple layering.  It thrives best in well-drained, mildly acidic, neutral or mildly alkaline soil.  Floppers enjoys a sunny to part shade location and tolerates some drought.  Goethe Plant has serrated leaf margins along which forms plantlets.  When these plantlets along with any leaf that drops to the soil, they quickly grow roots.   The foliage of Lifeplant are known to have anti-bacterial properties and have medicinal value.  Cotyledon pinnata  leaves are known to supress cough and treat kidney stones.  Mexican Love Plant is also said to be good for those with hypertension and it is also an anti-tumor.  Miracle Leaf is a host plant for the caterpillars of the Red Pierrot butterflies.   Mass plant Brophyllum pinnatum as lovely groundcovers.  It is a fast grower and soon fills up a nice area.  Broyophyllum calcycinum  can also be container cultivated in colder areas and brought indoors for the Winter. Crassula pinnata makes attractive foliage plants in the semi-shade garden.  It is low maintenance.  Kalanchoe pinnata calcidola naturalizes well and it adds a tropical flair to the landscape.
