Comments:  Lamium maculatum 'Beacon Silver' or Spotted Dead Nettle is a showy hardy perennial with a fast, low spreading growth habit.  It is not a native of North America.  From mid-Spring to early Summer, Lamium maculatum 'Beacon Silver' produces clusters of pink soft, hooded blossoms atop variegated, silver-gray, crinkled, herbaceous foliage, nicely edged with green.  The pink flowers contrast well with the silver leaves.  Butterflies, bees and birds are attracted to this heart-shaped beauty.    Lamium maculatum 'Beacon Silver' is easily propagated in Spring or Fall from stem cuttings, layering or rootball divisions.  It thrives best in well-drained, sandy, clayey, acidic, neutral or alkaline pH soil.  Mass plant Spotted Dead Nettle as eye-catching ground covers under taller trees.  It looks exquisite as accent plants or grow them in a woodland setting.  Lamium maculatum 'Beacon Silver' is low maintenance and tolerates drought when established.  It is resistant to deers and rabbits.  Spotted Dead Nettle forms a lovely carpet and can tolerate light foot traffic.  Weeds would not stand a chance with this creeping beauty.  Lamium maculatum 'Beacon Silver adds color to the shade garden.  It is an excellent plant to grow around bulbs.  Use Dead Nettle in window boxes or hanging baskets for a fabulous visual effect.  Lamium maculatum 'Silver Beacon' is a terrific show stopper.
