Lamium galeobdolon 'Variegatum'

Comments:  Lamium galeobdolon 'Variegatum' or Variegated Yellow Archangel or Variegated Yellow Lamium or Galeobdolon luteum or Lamiastum galeobdolon is a perennial with a fast, low, creeping growth habit.  It is a native of Europe and West or Central Asia.  In late Spring, Lamium galeobdolon 'Variegatum' produces pairs of clusters of small, tubular, bright yellow flowers at leaf nodes, followed later by seeds.  It has showy herbaceous, oval-shaped, coarsely toothed, opposite, hairy with silvery-gray variegation borne on 1 to 2 feet tall square stems.  Variegated Yellow Archangel is easily propagated from seeds, cuttings or offsets.  It is not picky about soil types and thrives in sandy or clayey soil in either a sun or shade.  Variegated Lamium looks showy in hanging baskets.  It is a rapid spreader and it roots easily at leaf nodes and soon forms a nice mat.   It has shallow roots and volunteers can be easily pulled.  Galeobdolon luteum is low maintenance and tolerates drought when established.  It makes an exquisite carpet, easily chokes out weeds and have no fear of competition from other plants. Grow Lamiastrum galeobdolon between concretes or as a ground cover, under taller trees or in an arid area of the garden to contain the spread.  If you want a fast growing plant in an area where you cannot get anything to grow, then this is the ideal plant for you.  By keeping Lamium Archangel 'Variegatum' under control it can be an eye-catching beauty.
