Comments: Bauhinia monarda or Pink Orchid tree is a fast growing beautiful tropical shrub with interesting
flowers and foliage. It is such a beautiful sight when the
tree is in bloom and the perfume from the flowers permeate the whole
garden. The long narrow brown seedpods of the Bauhinia monarda are about 1' in length. Trim plant to train into a nice accent shrub in the landscape.
Pink Orchid is a very useful tree as it is not only grown
for its fragrance and beauty but also grown for food and medicine as
well. Young leaves,
pods and buds are used as vegetables in Asian cuisine. Bauhinia
monarda grows well, looks great and smells exotic in my garden in
zone 8b. It can be grown as a specimen plant and looks just as
good as a container plant to accent the patio and when brought indoor
for the Winter, provide it with plenty of bright light and warmth.
