Caesalpinia gilliesii or Yellow Bird of Paradise or Mexican Bird of Paradise is an  interesting low-maintenance and fast growing decidious shrub.  This self-seeding hardy shrub can be trained to grow into a tree.  Hummingbirds and bees love the long-lasting blooms of the Mexican Bird of Paradise.  Deadhead to prevent volunteer seedlings.  Caesalpinia gilliesii bears attractive beautiful bright yellow flowers and it makes an excellent specimen or landscaping plant in the garden.  The foliage itself are attractive even without the blooms.
