Cassia
is a
beautiful perennial shrub with erect spike of glowy yellow flowers. It's
attractive and profuse bright yellow flowers attract many butterflies.
Cassia Senna didymotyra can tolerate minimum temperature of 35degrees F. Cut plant back
during flowering as nutrients are richest at this time and use the
cuttings as Nitrogen fixers. Stake young plants due to floppiness.
African Senna
is a self-seeder so remove seedpods to prevent volunteer plants next
season. It is a lovely erect shrub for the landscaping garden.
Cassia Senna didymotyra makes a great ornamental plant, as a specimen
plant in the landscaping garden and makes a terrific addition to the
xeriscaping garden. This disease and pest free shrub is popularly grown
for its medicinal value and also as a shelter or shade tree.
Cassia Senna didymotyra grows well here in zone 8b. I
love its big, bright gorgeous golden blooms all through Summer. For
colder regions,
Peanut Butter
Cassia can be grown as an ornamental container palnt and brought indoors
for the Winter.
