Comments: Cercis
canadensus or Canadian Redbud or Eastern Redbud or Judas Tree is a an
umbrella-shaped, multi-branched tree with lovely pink flowers. It
is advisable to trim young trees it to be single trunk to prevent
branches from braking as they age. Canadian Redbud is a nice
specimen understory specimen tree for the landscaping garden. This
self-sowing tree is slow-growing and the spectaculr blossoms usher in
the Spring. Eastern Redbud provides Fall interest when the bright
green heart-shaped leaves turn yellow and the seedpods hanging from the
tree look ornamental. Judas Tree attracts song birds. It
blooms one week earlier than Dogwood so planting it next to one another
would definitely brightens the garden. Cercis canadensus is easy
to grow, low maintenance and is named the official tree of the
state of Oklahoma. It is a gorgeous tree to have for the garden.
