Coffee Shrub of Arabia is a tropical perennial with an open-air
growth system. Arabia coffee
has been grown in Arabia for more than 1 thousand years. In Spring
Mountain coffee
bears dense clusters of white fragrant star-shaped blossoms that smell
and look just like jasmine flowers, perfumeating the garden with its
lovely scent. After the blooming season is over, bright red glossy
berries appear and they mature to purple in color. These fruits
add color to the tropical landscape.
Coffee Shrub of Arabia is easily propagated from seeds and grown
in light shade, ideally at 68 degrees F. Do not allow soil
to get dry; when the leaves start to droop, give it a drink.
Arabia coffee does not tolerate frost and enjoys growing under the shade
of a big tree as an understory tree.
Exposure to strong sun will cause leaf burn. Coffee
'arabica' can also be container grown for the home or office decoration.
When grown en masse, they make appealing specimen plants in the shade
garden.
