Duranta repens 'Variegata' or Variegated Brazilian Skyflower is an attractive large perennial shrub or small tree with a weeping growth habit.  From Spring through Summer it bears eye-catching ornamental blue flowers hanging from the stems among gorgeous variegated foliage.  These blossoms resemble miniature wisteria blossoms; bees and butterflies are magnetized by its nectar-rich blossoms.  When the flowering season is over, orange-yellow berries appear; these berries hanging gracefully from its branches are loved by pigeons and songbirds as well.  Duranta repens 'Variegata' is easily propagated from cuttings or seeds which have to be sown as soon as possible.  It performs best in well-drained, acidic or mildly alkaline soil in a sunny to part shade location.  Water Variegated Brazilian Skyflower deeply during active growth.  Grow this beauty as an espalier or small tree in the landscape or create a hedge or screen by growing them en masse.  Plant Duranta repens 'Variegata' together with other butterfly plants to create a haven for hummingbirds as well.  It is low maintenance and can tolerate some drought.  Variegated Brazilian Skyflower is hardy to 20 degrees Farenheit.  In grows well in zone 8b with protection.  Trim Duranta repens 'Variegata' whenever necessary for bushiness.  Variegated Brazilian Skyflower ' is a delightful specimen that draws a lot of attention.
