Comments:  Kerria japonica or Japanese Rose or Easter Rose or Japanese Kerria is a vigorous shrub with errect stems and an overarching habit.  It is easy to grow and spreads  freely via suckers.  The long smooth green stems of the Japanese Rose provide Winter interests. .  Keep plants neat by removing dead shoot.  Periodically trim Japanese Kerria to the ground for a fuller growth.  In colder regions, frost will kill it to the ground however the plant will return stronger the following season with more blooms. Grown in masses,  Kerria japonica makes a great border plant, foundation plant or a great shrub for shady places.   There are different cultivars of  Kerria japonica.  Kerria japonica 'Aureo variegata' has yellow leaf margins, Kerria japonica 'Picta' has white-edged leaves and Kerria japonica 'Pleniflora' is taller and has ball-shaped double flowers.
