Cmments:  Sambucus canadensis 'Aurea' or Aurea American Elder or Golden Elder or Yellow-leaved American Elder is a deciduous stoloniferous shrub with beautiful golden yellow foliage.  This upright shrub bears lovely tiny white blooms in Spring that matures to showy red round edible fruits in August is a definite attention-getter.  Aurea American Elder is fast growing and it attracts many bees, butterflies and birds.  It can tolerate acidic or alkalinic soil and some drought.  Sambucus canadensis 'Aurea' can be trained to be a small tree which makes it an excellent specimen shrub for the landscaping garden.  It can also be grown in a container to accent the patio or deck so you can admire its wonderful display of beautiful blossoms.  Grown in masses, Yellow-leaved American Elder makes an superb looking screening hedge or an attractive shrub border.  This gorgeous carefree shrub is a  frost tolerant and easy to grow from seeds or semi-hardwood  cuttings.  I love it!
