Comments:  Corylus avellana 'Contorta' or Harry Lauder's Walking Stick or Corkscrew Hazel or Contorted Filbert is a unique shrub with contorted roots and distorted foliage.  This conversation shrub got its name from the Scottish music hall star Sir Harry Lauder (1870-1950).  He was known to have carried a curly walking stick made from contorted hazelwood.
