Comments: Liatris spicata 'Alba or Blazing Star or Button Snakeroot or White Gayfeather is an ornamental perennial with a clumping, upright growth habit. It is a native of eastern and central United States. From Summer to Fall, Liatris spicata 'Alba' bears attractive spikes of small, white, feathery blossoms that opens from top to bottom. Butterflies are magnetized by the nectar-rich blossoms. Florists are delighted with the ornate cut flowers. White Gayfeather has long, linear, basal, medium green foliage. Provide stakes if flower spikes tend to be floppy. Blazing Star is easily propagated from seeds or corm divisions. It performs best in well-drained, mildly acidic, neutral or mildly alkaline soil in a sunny location. Button Snakeroot is low maintenance. It looks excellent in a mixed bed. Mass plant Liatris spicata 'Alba' with Purple Liatris for a superb butterfly and hummingbird garden. The combination provides a terrific visual delight.
