Lilium 'Sterling Star'

Comments: 
Lilium 'Sterling Star' or Asiatic Lily is a showy hybrid perennial bulbous plant with a fast growth habit.  It has herbaceous glossy green smooth leaves.  In mid-Summer, Lilium 'Sterling Star' produces lovely white, flat, up-facing, recurved, 6-petaled blossoms with reddish spots on 3 to 4 foot long stems.  This is followed later by seeds  Florists are delighted with the freshly cut large flowers for a lovely bouquet.  Asiatic Lily 'Sterling Star' is easily propagated from scale or offset divisions taken in the Fall or early Spring.  It thrives best in well-drained, organic-rich, moist, acidic, neutral, mildly alkaline soil in a sunny to part shade environment.  Mulch base of plant to preserve moisture.  Remove spent flowers to prevent seeding.  Cut back when plants turned yellow.  Mass plant Lilium 'Sterling Star' in groups of three in the borders or as edging plants. It can also be container cultivated.   Asiatic Lily 'Sterling Star' is a fabulous show-stopper.
