Comments:  Lonicera nitida 'Silver Beauty' or Box Honeysuckle or Boxleaf Honeysuckle is an evergreen shrub with a dense, mounding growth habit.  Its ancester is from southwestern China.  In late Spring or early Summer, Lonicer nitida 'Silver Beauty' produces fragrant white, bell-shaped flowers, appearing in pairs.  This is followed later by ripe small round purple fruits in Summer.  Birds enjoy feasting on the fruits.  Boxleaf Honeysuckle has showy small, oval to round-shaped, variegated, silver-gray with distinct cream edges.  It has graceful arching stems; the eye-catching young purple stems ages to light brown.  Box Honeysuckle 'Silver Beauty' can be grown from stem cuttings.  It thrives best in well-drained, soil in a sunny to part shade environment.  Boxleaf Honeysuckle 'Silver Beauty' is low maintenance.  Deers would not go near it.   Prune Boxleaf Honeysuckle 'Silver Beauty' to maintain shape and size.  It performs well in coastal planting.  Mass plant Lonicera nitida 'Silver Beauty for a spectacular hedge or grow it as a specimen.   Use it for an exquisite privacy screen or plant a row of them for a fabulous looking windbreak.  This smooth, gray-barked shrub steals the show in a mixed border or background planting.  Box Honeysuckle 'Silver Beauty' is a much desired shrub for an outstanding all season delight in the landscape.
