Comments:  Lunaria annua 'Variegata Alba' or Bulbonac or Honesty or Money Plant or Moonwort or Silver Dollar or Lunaria biennis is a hardy herbaceous annual or biennial with a fast, upright, branching  growth habit.   It is of European origin.  In late Spring, Lunaria annua 'Variegata 'Alba' produces pure white flowers, followed later by ornate, silvery, flat, coin-shaped seedpods.  Bulbonac has splendid arching, heart-shaped variegated foliage that are green with white splashes.  The seeds are easily propagated and the seedlings do come true.  Honesty Plant thrives best in well-drained soil in a sunny or part shade environment.  The young plants are green but will mature with variegation at flowering time.  Variegation is more prominent in part shade.  Mass plant Moonwort in perennial borders for a dramatic display.  It is low maintenance and tolerates drought, hence is great for xeriscaping.   Lunaria biennis is ideal for a white garden.  Its unusual seedpods provide Fall interest and are excellent floral arrangements.  Money Plant is popularly cultivated by many gardeners for its unique foliage and exquisite blossoms.  It is a terrific showstopper.

The name 'luna' is Latin for 'moon' while 'annua' means annual.
