is an ornamental grass with an upright, narrow clumping growth habit.
It originated from Asia. Miscanthus sinensis has spectacular
herbaceous, linear, green with yellow zebra bands arching foliage. In
late Summer or early Fall it produces showy purple plumes, followed
later by seeds. Chinese Silvergrass is easily propagated from seeds or
rootball divisions. It performs best in well-drained, rich, moist soil
in a sunny location. Eulalia Grass can be container cultivated. It is
low maintenance and tolerates drought conditions, hence is excellent for
xeriscaping. Maiden Grass puts on a magnificent display in the heat of
Summer when the yellow bands turn red. Suzuki Grass self sows readily
so deadhead plumes to control spread. In early Spring, cut back plant
for a renewed growth. Use Porcupine Grass around ponds for a charming
visual effect. It really stands out it a background setting. Zebra
Grass makes an awesome statement as a stand alone specimen. Miscanthus
sinensis gracillimus provides Summer, Fall and Winter interests. Foot
traffic often stop to admire this awesome show stopper. Like many other
hobbyists, I fell in love with Miscanthuus sinensis variegatus at first
sight. It is popularly cultivated in many gardens for its ornamental
beauty. Miscanthus zebrinus is a welcoming addition to Jenny's Garden.
