Comments: Spathoglottis plicata or Phillippine Ground Orchid or
Boat Orchid is a clump-forming tender tropical perennial with long stalk
of exotic looking flowers that arise from the basal axil leaf of the
plant. This terrestial herbal plant is stemless and does not
tolerate frost. Phillippine Ground Orchid makes lovely
groundcovers in the shade garden. Grow them in masses in the
perennial bed or borders or in containers as accent plant for the patio.
Ground Orchid is easily propagated from tuber divisions. Remove
dead stalks and wilted foliage regularly. Occassionally I use
Miracle Gro on Boat Orchid to enhance its growth.
