Comments: Pachysandra terminalis or Japanese Spurge or Pachysandra is an evergreen perennial with a low, dense, spreading growth habit. It is a native of Japan and a relative of the Japanese Spurge family. In mid-Spring, Pachysandra terminalis produces small clusters of white blossoms, followed later by seeds. It has bright green, alternate glossy foliage. Japanese Spurge is easily propagated from seeds, stem cuttings or rootball divisions. It thrives best in well-drained, highly acidic soil in a sunny to part shade or full shade environment. Pachysandra terminalis also tolerates poor soil. It is low maintenance. Japanese Spurge spreads by means of suckering roots and soon forms a lovely mat, replacing weeds. It makes a lovely foliage plant on slopes and helps prevent soil erosion. Mass plant Pachysandra terminalis as attractive groundcovers. It looks wonderful under taller trees and the year-round green color is especially welcoming in Winter.
USDA Zones . 4-9
