Comments:  Pandanus amaryllifolius or Pandan or Pandanus odorus or Pandanus odoratissimus or Rampeh or Screw Pine or Daun Pandan is a tropical tender perennial plant with a rapid suckering growth habit.  This fragrant herbal plant is a native of Asia.  Pandanus amaryllifolius has aerial roots and plantlets grow at the top part of the plant.  The suckers growing from the mother plant can be easily removed and propagated in a container or ground.  Pandan Plant performs best in a filtered shade to full sun location in moist, rich, mildly acidic soil.  Provide regular watering especially in Summer and it will soon form a nice clump.  Pandanus odorus has bright green, narrow, smooth fragrant foliage.  Each leaf has a ridge in the center along the length.  Panaduns odoratissimus leaves have many uses.  Add several Pandanus amaryllifolius leaves to boiling rice for an irresistible aroma.  Screw Pine leaves are also popularly used in desserts, curry and chicken recipes.  Diabetics also find Pandan Plant very useful.  Rampeh leaves also repel cockroaches.  I use them often in my closets and drawers.  Place some leaves in the house to freshen the air.  Loose frozen leaves are often sold in Asian grocery stores.  Pandanus amaryllifolius is an easy plant to grow and it is so practical to have one within hand's reach.  I am very happy to own a Daun Pandan Plant in my garden.  Its ever splendid aroma is so refreshing.
