Origin:  East Asia
Light: Full sun, light shade
Height:   8'
Spread:   3' 
Blooms:  3-5" diameter, soft yellow flowers with dark brown eye
Foliage:  Large, ovate-shaped, soft yellow flowers with dark brown eye
Soil:  Rich, moiste
Water:  Regular
Propagation:  Division, seeds.  Seeds are to be sown directly in Spring as they are very sensitive to  tranplanting.
Uses:  Background 
Caution:  Spiny, long cylindrical seed pods
Comments:  Hibiscus Abelmoschus or Hibiscus Manihot or Huang Chin or Aibika or Yellow Hibiscus or Sunset Musk Mallow or Lemon Slice is an attractive tall tropical perennial semi-shrub with pretty flowers that are very similar to those of the Okra plant. The
leaves of Hibiscus Manihot are very nutritious and are used in cooking like stir-fry, soups, stews or eaten raw as a salad.  African Rose Mallow is a host plant for the Painted Lady and Skippers butterflies.
