Blooms:  Gorgeous, red, dinner plate size  with 5 overlapping single petals, from mid-Summer to frost
Foliage:  Herbaceous, green
Soil:  Well-drained, keep moist
Water:  Medium wet to wet

Fertilizer:  Regular
Insects/Disease:  Watch out for Japanese beetles, whiteflies and aphids
Propagation:  Division, seeds.  Sow seeds directly. 
Uses:  Border, specimen, accent, landscaping, container
Caution:  Spiny, long cylindrical seed pods, wear gloves
Comments:  Hibiscus Dinner Plate is a showy, low-maintenance hardy shrubby perennial with red giant blooms. Provide good air circulation and protect from wind. Flower attracts butterflies but the bloom lasts only a day.  Deadhead to maintain a neat appearance.  Hibiscus Dinner Plate plants can tolerate temperature of up to -10 degrees F.
